Famous Dave's

I've gone a little heavy on the blog posts today but ahh well (:

I've just ordered some Famous Dave self tan off their website. I ordered the 'Super Combo' which costs £54.00. It includes:

1x Famous Dave's Moisture Tan
1x Famous Dave's Tanning Mousse
1x Famous Dave's Body Buffer
1x Famous Daves Tanning Mitt

I also ordered a back tanning applicator which was £9.99

The press reviews for this product seem very positive although I have never heard of the brand before.

I'm looking forward to recieving the product and trying it out (:

You can order this from http://www.famousdave.co.uk/ or from a Debenhams department store
Have you or someone you know tried this self tan and what are your thoughts?

How strange...

What comes into your mind when you look at this picture... Well I don't know what I thought when I first looked at it.

I was having a look on Ebay to see if I could find any cute Japanese/Chinese cosmetics as I love the cute packaging and I came across this.

It's actually a.... nose straightener. Yes you read right, a nose straightener. I can't even think of who would use this product and if it actually would work :|

Have you come across any wierd and wonderful (or not so wonderful) products lately?

Hidden Gem!

I was browsing around the internet, as you do. And came across http://www.shopbop.com/ I cannot believe I've never heard of this website before.

If you've never heard of it it's kind of like a designer outlet type site including Marc Jacobs, UGG, True Religion, Juicy Couture etc. All the prices are in US dollars but they do ship worldwide and if you spend over $100 (£66.34) shipping is free! I didn't see an option to convert the prices into the correct currency. But a converter open in another window can solve that problem.

I've seen some lovely things on the site and here are just a few:

Juicy Couture Rolled Sleeve Plaid Dress $89.00 (£59)

This dress also comes in a red colour option which is slightly more expensive. But I prefer this version alot more! I'd love to team this up with some big sunnies, a sun hat and some sandals. It's a perfect little day dress for the more summery days, it could also be teamed with leggings for cooler periods.

Marc Jacobs Nylon Tate Tote   $198 (£131)

I love this bag, it's a cute everyday bag which would definately fit all the essentials in. The lining is also lovely. White with black printed 'Marc Jacobs' I think this price is fairly cheap for a designer bag even though it's just an everyday tote.

Alex and Ani Pineapple Expandable Wire Bangle  $28 (£19)

The jewelry collection on the website was beautiful and I could of made a whole blog post on just that. But I just picked out one piece which I thought was quite affordable, it also came into their 'eco-friendly' range as the bangle is made from recycled metal. I thought this bangle was adorable! A little pineapple charm on a gold bangle, there were different bangles in the same style, a cherry charm and a strawberry. But I thought the pineapple was the prettiest. I am going to be very tempted to buy them all though as they are so gorgeous!

So I could spend all day drooling over this website, but I won't. I thought the products were pretty affordable for what they are and the fact they ship worldwide is a plus.

Has anyone used this site before, what was the service, shipping and quality of products like?

Don't you just love freebies?

This month magazines seem to have gone freebie crazy, this usually happens at this time of the year because of summer holidays etc. So at this time I end up with a huuuge pile of magazines!

Ok so first up is the three benefit products as you all probably know one of these comes free with Glamour Magazine and you can collect them all so £6 for £45 worth of Benefit products and three magazines isn't bad!

Eye Bright

Eye Bright's an eye brightening pencil pale pink in colour, which can be applied to the corners of the eye to give a 'wide eyed' look. Now I love this pencil, it's a creamy formulation which glides on easily and does give a brightening effect and isn't as harsh as a white pencil.

BadGal

This will be the quickest to go out of stock as it's a cult Benefit product. I've used this liner a couple of times and the colour is a strong black and can be used to create a smokey eye. The only downside is it does smudge a little. But I can't complain it was free!

It Stick

Last and well.. least is the It Stick, it's a concealer pencil and can be used for an eye base, and it says it covers any blemishes, therefore it claims it can be used as a usual concealer. I'm not so keen on this product especially as it's in a  pencil, it just doesn't seem right to me. There were lots of these left on the shelves when I got mine. I can now see why.

Next up, free in Marie Claire this month is a free shower and bath gel from Cowshed, retail price £8.00. There are different fragrances to collect and I got 'grumpy cow' as it was the only one left in the shop.  I used this in the shower this morning, at first smell lemon drizzle cake came to mind. I'm not usually keen on citrus fragrances but this one wasn't too overpowering and very uplifting. It left my skin feeling smooth and woke me up this morning!

Lastly in Cosmopolitan this week is this book 'Operation Sunshine' retail price £6.99, also the magazine is cut price only costing £2.00! I've not started reading this book yet as I'm trying to finish Twilight Eclipse before the film comes out! But I think it will be a great summer read. I think lots of magazines will be giving books away in the next months for beach reads.

Well those are the magazine freebies I got this month! I do love something for nothing

Have you had any magazine or other freebies this month?

Want allergic reactions and patchy orange skin?

I purchased this Garnier Ambre Solaire 'No Streaks' self tan gel from my local Boots in the 'intense' shade as with previous use of self tanners I always seem to benefit from using the darker sahde opposed to the light one.

Okay so onto the mess which is the product:

What the people at Garnier say:
''A natural looking tan effect that looks as natural as the sun can give you... blah blah blahhh''
Now this is complete and utter, how do I put it.. rubbish.
I did my usual pre-tan routine:
-Shower
-Exfoliate
-Pat skin dry
Then I applied the product exactly how it said on the bottle using small amounts, this product doesn't show when you are applying so you have to be extremely careful. It also takes an age to dry and it smells awful, classic fake tan smell. So I waited for this to dry and got into bed hoping that a beautiful bronzed goddess would awaken in the morning. How wrong was I ?!
When I awoke and pulled the duvet covers off my skin was still white as the sheets I lay on and I had a wonderful allergic reaction to it : the skin on my wrist joints looked like it had been burned ( I wish I'd of taken pictures to send to them! ) and I had extremely dry itchy patches everywhere that I had applied the tan. So this was a complete and utter fail for me. When I went into college and told people as a few people asked what the disgusting looking rash on my hands was, I'd say a handful of people told me that they or their friends had had this reaction too.
So I'd say do not use this fake tan unless you want rubbish results and run the risk of getting a nasty reaction. Usually I would say ''this may just be me reacting to the product'' but because quite a few people have told the same story I would steer clear of it!
Has anyone else used this fake tan and had the same problem? Or has anyone had lovely results?

Update on me and other boring stuff!

Okay I haven't posted in a while now... To be honest I've been quite busy at the moment, I have my AS Level exams looming up on me very soon, so haven't really had much time for anything but revising... I know boring!

On a positive note:

I've been shopping in the last few weeks and I've bagged myself some new MAC products including the Viva Glam GaGa which I have had my eyes on for quite some time as I'm a huge GaGa fan! Also I thought I'd try out the Studio Tech Foundation... I'm still having mixed thoughts about it now and I've hit pan.. I am going to use it all up though as it was fairly pricey (£22.00) and I don't like to waste makeup. I do love love love my MSF Natural in Medium though it gives a lovely finish to the skin hence the name 'skin finish' duhh. I also purchased one of Mac's Powder Blushes in Pinch O'Peach the main reason I bought this was due to SWalkerMakeup's videos on YT and I felt it was a lovely shade on the skin and I have to say I'm very pleased with the results. I will be purchasing more blushes from MAC, I have to say I was a MAC blush virgin before that purchase and I love the consistancy and blendability (is that a word?!) of the product (:

I'm also very exited as it's my 17th Birthday on Saturday the 22nd so I should be driving soon.....clear the roads people! I don't know how to take the whole driving thing.. I'm nervous/exited but I hope I will overcome the fear of crashing and get into it and enjoy it. My DREAM car would be a Grey Mini Convertible.... but I don't thing my budget will even stretch to a Corsa yet haha...... well at least I can keep dreaming..... XD

Sorry this post is lacking in pictures and the content is well, rather dull. But once my exams are out of the way the whole blogging and twitter lark will be up and running properly and I hope I can gain alot more subscribers to both! I may even consider Youtubing as that seems a great meduim to get my little obsession across with!

Lots of Love

Charlotte.
